Construction Career Day
In 2009 and 2010, WDI funded this event which resulted in more than 1600 of the area's high school students being given the opportunity to learn more about the building trades.

Ironworkers Apprenticeship Program
Since WDI began support of the 4-year apprenticeship program in 2008, 794 hours of instructions have been provided to more than 45 students in the Local 417 program.

Hudson Valley Task Force
In 2010, WDI Hudson Valley Regional Director Alma Rodriguez has been discussing six major themes related to the future of the Hudson Valley with regional citizen Task Forces. The work of these groups, led by experts in each subject area, will be published soon on the interactive website www.OurHudson.org.

Literacy Connections
Without English literacy, individuals cannot hope to achieve economic self-sustainability. To support literacy, WDI has funded Literacy Connections in New York since 2008.
Outcome: In the current cycle from November 1, 2009 through October 31, 2010 (50% complete), 87 students have received 476 instructional hours. Many of the participants have received U.S. citizenship or their GED.
