Department of Environmental Conservation and Historic Preservation – If you are interested in anything having to do with the environment, this is an excellent site, with volumes of background information about clean air, clean water and much more.
Green Jobs/ Green New York - Green Jobs/ Green New York is a landmark energy efficiency program to retrofit 1 million homes and small businesses. The program is being administered by NYSERDA. This link provides a full description of criteria for this Program.
Division of Housing & Community Renewal’s Weatherization Assistance Program – The Weatherization Assistance Program assists income-eligible families and individuals by reducing their heating/cooling costs and improving the safety of their homes through energy efficiency measures. This web site includes information about eligibility and a listing of providers.
New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) - Features project information sorted by region, calendar of events, press releases, and employment information. NYSERDA’s aim is to help New York meet its energy goals: reducing energy consumption, promoting the use of renewable energy sources, and protecting the environment. The “Incentives” link on the home page is filled with a variety of information about financial incentives for renewables and energy efficiency projects.
New York State Climate Action Council – Created by Executive order, the Council is charged with preparing a Climate Action Plan by September 30, 2010. The Climate Action Plan will assess how all economic sectors can reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and adapt to climate change. The Plan will also identify the extent to which such actions support New York’s goals for a clean energy economy.
New York State Energy Planning Board – This site includes a link to the NYS Energy Plan. The Board was appointed by the Governor to develop the Plan which is intended to keep New York at the forefront among the states in providing its residents with reliable, economical, and clean energy resources.
Federal Government
United States Department of Energy – This site has an abundance of information about energy saving products, tax breaks and ways to conserve energy resources. It also has an energy savers blog where users can comment on a host of energy related matters.
United States Department of Labor – Employment and Training Administration - The Employment and Training Administration (ETA) administers federal government job training and worker dislocation programs, federal grants to states for public employment service programs, and unemployment insurance benefits. These services are primarily provided through state and local workforce development systems, but information can also be found on this site. These programs include some green related training, but are much broader than in scope.
Environmental Protection Agency - EPA leads the nation's environmental science, research, education and assessment efforts. The mission of the Environmental Protection Agency is to protect human health and the environment. This site has a lot of information about the environment and grant listings. There is a clickable map so that you can view programs specific to your state.

AFL-CIO Center for Green Jobs - AFL-CIO created the Center for Green Jobs to assist union leaders in training workers for new careers in a clean energy economy. A program of the Working for America Institute, the Center is reaching out to labor organizations across a broad array of industry sectors to help build a new green economy-to create clean fuels and ultra efficient vehicles, to revitalize manufacturing and rebuild downtowns, to launch clean coal technology and build a smarter power grid, among many other projects. Besides engaging unions at all levels in setting standards for green jobs and educating union members about public policy issues, the Center is providing guidance on green jobs training opportunities.
