Hauppauge, NY - On Tuesday, July 27, the Long Island Apollo Alliance held a roundtable discussion in Hauppauge, NY. Mijin Cha from Urban Agenda, the conveners of the New York City Apollo Alliance, was the keynote speaker.
Mijin, who began her advocacy career under the guidance of Luke Cole at the Center on Race, Poverty, and the Environment, reviewed the roadmap for New York City that the Apollo Alliance has developed.
More than 45 individuals attended the roundtable, representing local businesses, government, unions, and community groups. One of the key agenda items for the morning meeting was a discussion of what initiatives could be launched without significant assistance from the government, but still provide good jobs.
WDI on Long Island hosts these meetings and organizes all Apollo Alliance activities.
